A Travellerspoint blog

Map of my journey

Map of where I am going and how I am getting there!

First, I leave Chapel Hill on June 20th for New York City, where I will be doing my orientation with AFS. I will stay there until June 22nd, when I leave for Moscow, Russia! From there, I will take an overnight train to Kirov, where I will be spending the next 6 weeks. I will be arriving back to the US on August 2nd. It's a lot of travel, but it's worth it!

About Me!

Hey Everyone!

My name is Kendall Wood and I am currently a sophomore in high school. I love Russia and I have just recieved a scholarship from NSLI-Y to study Russian in there for six weeks this summer. I will be in Kirov, a place many of you know is very close to my heart.

For the past few spring breaks, I have gone to Kirov to visit an orphanage and have become very close to the kids there. It has truly changed my life! Going to Russia helped me find my passion in their culture, language, and just about everything else there! I hope to major in International Relations and study abroad in Russia.

I will be using this blog to post about my experiences learning Russian and all of the fun things I do along the way.

For more information about NSLI-Y, please go to their website www.nsliforyouth.org. It is a really great opportunity for anyone who wants to learn a foreign language that may not be taught in their school!

If you want more information about my other travels to Russia, please go to www.mission127.org. It’s a great cause and is really worth looking at!
